What the six areas mean
The World Health Organization ties burnout to chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed, so every statement is about the workplace.
Workload
Whether the work fits the hours, and whether priorities are clear enough to say what can wait.
Control
How much say the team has over how, when and in what order its work gets done.
Recognition
Whether good work is noticed specifically and soon, by managers and by peers.
Community
Whether people can ask for help, disagree safely and rely on each other under pressure.
Fairness
Whether workload, opportunities and decisions are shared out in ways people can see and trust.
Recovery
Whether breaks, evenings and leave are real, and whether busy stretches end with time to reset.
What to do with your result
Take the check yourself, then ask your team to take it and bring only their area scores to the next meeting. Start with the lowest area: what would make these statements more true a month from now? Agree one change, an owner and a date, and check again in six to eight weeks.
Low scores in several areas?
